Helsinki is known for its modern architecture, design, and vibrant cultural scene, with museums, galleries, and music festivals, as carries history from the very begining of human´s trace, around the year 8.500 B.C.

It is the capital city of Finland and is located in Northern Europe, on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland by the Baltic Sea. It offers a mix of historical and modern attractions, including the UNESCO-listed Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, Helsinki Cathedral, Helsinki Central Railway Station, and the contemporary art museum Kiasma, among waterfront parks and beautiful green spaces.

The average temperature in January, the coldest month, is around -4°C , and in July, the warmest month, it is around 17°C . It has a population of around 650,000. Finnish is the official language spoken in Helsinki. The city has efficient public transportation, including buses, trams, and a metro system, which makes it easy to get around the city. It also has an extensive network of bike lanes and is known for being a pedestrian-friendly city.

IUA Headmistresses Tania Gandolla and Magela Urruti enjoyed discovering this old world spring while attending the STEP2023 meeting with colleagues, where they explored Finland´s education system and co worked in planning the future of the generations to come.

Helsinki es conocida por su arquitectura, diseño y vibrante escena cultural con museos, galerías y festivales de música, y cuenta su historia desde finales de la Era del Hielo, alrededor del año 8.500 a.C.

Es la ciudad capital de Finlandia y está ubicada en el norte de Europa, en la costa sur del Golfo de Finlandia junto al Mar Báltico. Ofrece una combinación de atracciones históricas y modernas, incluida la fortaleza marina de Suomenlinna, declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, la catedral, la estación central de trenes y el museo de arte contemporáneo, entre parques frente al mar y hermosos espacios verdes.

La temperatura media en enero, el mes más frío, ronda los -4°C, y en julio, el mes más cálido, ronda los 17°C. Tiene una población de alrededor de 650.000. El finlandés es el idioma oficial que se habla en Helsinki. La ciudad cuenta con transporte público eficiente, que incluye autobuses, tranvías, un sistema de metro y una extensa red de carriles para bicicletas; es reconocida como ciudad amigable para los peatones.

Las integrantes del Equipo de Dirección del IUA Mtra. Tania Gandolla y Mtra. Magela Urruti disfrutaron descubriendo esta primavera del viejo mundo mientras participaron en la reunión STEP2023, donde exploraron el sistema educativo de Finlandia y trabajaron en la planificación del futuro de las generaciones venideras con colegas docentes.
